Introducing the All-New MGS9 PHEV
Big news from MG, and it is fair to say this one has been worth the wait.
MG has officially revealed the MGS9 PHEV, its first-ever seven-seat SUV, and it is now available to order here at James Haugh. With three full rows of seating, an impressive electric-only range, and a specification list that punches well above its price point, the MGS9 PHEV could be exactly what a lot of families in Dumfries and Galloway have been waiting for.
What is it?
The MGS9 PHEV is MG's largest model to date, designed to carry up to seven passengers in genuine comfort across three rows of seats. It is longer and taller than the MG HS, giving it a commanding presence on the road while delivering the kind of practicality that genuinely fits around family life.
Boot space is seriously impressive too. With the third row folded flat you get over 1,000 litres of cargo room, and even with all seven seats in use there is still a useful 332 litres available. Whether it is a full family shop, a trip down to the coast, or a school run with extras, the MGS9 has room for it.
The Powertrain
Under the bonnet, the MGS9 PHEV uses the same proven plug-in hybrid system found in the award-winning MG HS, which recently took the What Car? Plug-in Hybrid of the Year title for 2026. A 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine is paired with a 24.7kWh battery, delivering a combined output of 227hp and an official all-electric range of up to 62 miles.
For most daily commutes or school runs around Dumfries, that means you could be driving on electric power alone. Plug in overnight, and longer journeys are handled seamlessly by the petrol engine when you need it. It also sits in the 10% Benefit-in-Kind tax bracket for 2026/27, which makes it an attractive option for business drivers too.
Standard Specification
MG has always been known for offering strong value, and the MGS9 PHEV continues that tradition. Standard features include leather-style upholstery, a large panoramic sunroof, heated, ventilated and massaging front seats, and tri-zone climate control, giving every row of passengers their own climate settings.
Pricing
The MGS9 PHEV is priced from £34,205 on the road, up to £36,945 for the range-topping variant.
