MG HS in a 59-car plug-in hybrid mega test

The MG HS Plug-in Hybrid has retained its title as Plug-in Hybrid Car of the Year with What Car? magazine, and now Auto Express has backed that up with an equally strong verdict of their own. What Car? — one of the UK's most widely read consumer car titles — awarded the HS PHEV its top plug-in hybrid accolade earlier this year, noting that rival cars at similar price points couldn't match it for space, running costs, or practicality.

Defending a What Car? Car of the Year title is never a given; the category gets more competitive each year, and the HS held its ground. Auto Express then put 59 plug-in hybrids through what they describe as the most comprehensive PHEV test they've ever run.

The MG HS came out on top — ahead of equivalent models from Mercedes, Range Rover, and Porsche. Their conclusion was straightforward: it's a well-sorted, easy-to-live-with car that happens to come at a genuinely competitive price. Two independent titles. Two very different tests. Same result.

The MG HS Plug-in Hybrid is available now at James Haugh in Dumfries. If you'd like to arrange a test drive or find out more about the range, call us on 01387 255 291 or visit jameshaugh.co.uk.
